From April 16 to 17, the 2022 International Criminal Court Chinese Moot Competition was held online. Team of Nankai stood out from 81 teams and won the second prize of the group award and the first place of the best prosecution lawyer's pleading award. The International Criminal Court Chinese Moot Competition is a mock court competition organized by theChinese Initiative on International Criminal Justice and held in Chinese, one of the six official languages of the International Criminal Court.
Our team consists of Ma Xiao, a 2019 undergraduate from the Law School, as the prosecutor, Sun Meiqi, a 2020 undergraduate, as the victim's lawyer, Tian Jiayu, a 2020 undergraduate, as the defense lawyer, Shan Guangrui, a 2017 undergraduate, as the coach, and Tang Yingxia, an associate professor from the International Law Teaching and Research Office of the Law School, as the instructor. Tang Yingxia set up an optional course of Simulated Court of International Law for undergraduates to teach and discuss classic cases of international law and the method of writing pleadings. The results of this competition are also the training results of this course.
Under the guidance of teacher and coach, the team members inquired about a large number of English documents such as international criminal jurisprudence, international humanitarian law norms and relevant international criminal law monographs, and they conducted several online simulated debates.This year's competition focuses on the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court, crimes against humanity, war crimes and victim participation in the litigation system. On the field, the members of Nankai responded calmly, showing the mental outlook and legal literacy.
The Nankai Law School has strongly supported students to participate in various moot court debates over the years. Outstanding law students have striven hard to be the first, and have made outstanding achievements in major domestic and international competitions for many times.
